Experience

Experience across retail applications, connected operational systems, computer vision, and industrial software informs a practical approach to technology projects. The examples below are anonymous. Each one notes whether it describes implemented work, model development, or architecture and design.

Implementation and requirements design

Retail POS customization and modernization

The problem
A retail operation needed its point-of-sale software to support store workflows and data exchanges that the standard product did not provide, while remaining maintainable as the platform evolved.
The contribution
Developed extensions to the point-of-sale software and its integrations with surrounding business systems. Contributed to requirements and architecture for multi-terminal, multi-operator operation, including sessions and cash drawers, and analysed requirements for taxation, multilingual operation, payment interfaces, and accounting exports. Tax, payment, and accounting topics covered requirements and design; they do not represent certification work.
Capabilities
  • POS customization
  • Systems integration
  • Requirements analysis
  • Architecture

Application development

Connected retail operations applications

The problem
Store and head-office teams relied on manual processes to collect operational information, schedule staff, check prices, and place orders, which made the information slow to reach the people who needed it.
The contribution
Built web and mobile applications and the backend services behind them for workforce scheduling, store surveys, operational data collection, price checking, and store ordering. Designed synchronization so that devices could keep working and exchange data with central systems, and reporting so that head office could review store information.
Capabilities
  • Web and mobile applications
  • Backend services and APIs
  • Data synchronization
  • Reporting

Model training and data pipelines

Vision-based surface defect detection

The problem
Inspecting road surfaces for defects by eye is slow and inconsistent. The goal was to explore detecting defects automatically from images captured in the field.
The contribution
Trained deep-learning computer vision models to detect surface defects in road imagery, and worked on the pipelines that carried field-collected images through organization and preparation into model training.
Capabilities
  • Computer vision model training
  • Image-based defect detection
  • Field-data pipelines
  • Data preparation

Architecture and design

Distributed AI-agent architecture

The problem
Multi-step research and information-processing work needed to be divided between cooperating AI agents without losing control over what each agent could access, how much it could spend, or what it had done.
The contribution
Designed an architecture in which a coordinating agent delegates tasks to worker agents. The design defines controlled access to tools and credentials, usage budgets, monitoring, and a traceable record of activity.
Capabilities
  • Agent coordination design
  • Permissions and credential control
  • Usage budgets
  • Monitoring and traceability

Software development

Industrial automation and inspection software

The problem
Industrial equipment needed software that could control motion, interface with hardware, run optical inspection, and present clear workflows to the people operating it.
The contribution
Developed software that interfaced with industrial equipment, including motion control and optical inspection functions, together with the operator workflows around them.
Capabilities
  • Equipment interfaces
  • Optical inspection
  • Motion control
  • Operator workflows
